# What is the castle doctrine in Rhode Island?

Rhode Island's castle doctrine allows a person to use deadly force to defend themselves in their home if they reasonably believe someone has broken in and poses an imminent threat of death or serious bodily harm. There is no duty to retreat from your own home under this doctrine.
